Against Malaria Foundation

We help protect people from malaria.

Malaria is one of the leading killers of children in Africa. Insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) prevent deaths and many other non-fatal cases of malaria. Given the scale of this problem, malaria is clearly a humanitarian issue, and one we are determined to solve. Some of the world’s leading malaria experts advise us on how donations should be spent, and we report back to our supporters on exactly where their money has been spent. Efficiency, transparency and demonstrating impact have always been our most important guiding principles.

“AMF’s program has a strong track record of preventing malarial infections. Its emphasis on preparation, distribution and follow-up ensures that it realises its potential in combating malaria and its effects.”  – Giving What We Can

What we do

We fund anti-malaria nets, specifically long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), and work with distribution partners to ensure they are used, and reporting on the impact.

How we do it

100% of public donations buy nets and we ensure these are put over heads and beds. A net costs just $2.00 and can protect at least two people for up to two years.

About Malaria

Half a million people die from Malaria every year and 400 million fall ill. 70% of them are children under 5 and it is the #1 killer of pregnant women. And it is preventable.

Our principles

We are completely transparent and cost-effective in our work. We have been the #1 ranked charity by GiveWell, Giving What We Can and The Lives You Can Save since 2012.

Decision making

Wondering how we allocate funding to different places so that we're as effective as possible? Take a look at our decision making process for net distribution.

Data and planning

We publish a great deal of detailed information about our proposals for distribution, malaria case rate data and reports on our distributions worldwide.

Recent distributions

We publish the details of all of our distributions so that you can see exactly where the money you've spent has gone and how it's fighting malaria.

Fundraise for us

When you help to fundraise for AMF, you are joining a project much bigger than just a single net, you are joining a community of people who want to make a real change and end malaria.

The equivalent of 7 Jumbo Jets full of children die every day from malaria (3,000 children every day).

Malaria kills half a million people every year and 400 million fall ill. Before bed nets were made available, it was three or more times that. Nets are a proven intervention – a more effective a way of saving lives than any other. There is still a long way to go and every death from malaria is preventable.

Latest News

Update on future distributions and immediate funding gaps

Thanks to our donors' incredible commitment to fighting malaria, we have recently been able to sign agreements to fund 3.86 million nets for distribution in Guinea (Mar-Apr 2019) and 11.8 million nets for distribution in the Democratic Republic of Congo (April and November 2019). These nets will protect an estimated 28.1 million people.

AMF ranked as a top charity for seventh time!

"The Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) is one of our top-rated charities, and an organization that we feel offers donors an outstanding opportunity to accomplish good with their donations."

Congratulations to extraordinary Atlantic Challenge 'Oardinary Boys' Oli and George

Hot on the heels of our previous blogpost, albeit completed before, we’d like to offer our admiration and congratulations to the not-so Oardinary Boys, Oli Glanville and George Randell, for successfully Rowing the Atlantic - 3,000 miles in a very small boat.
